Two Johnston School Board members were recognized for their commitment to learning and leadership.
The Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) awarded board members and administrators from 29 Iowa public school districts and AEAs.
Each year, these awards are given to individual board members, teams and administration who demonstrate devotion to learning, advocacy, leadership and service projects to expand their skills and knowledge for increased governance.
Applicants for the IASB Better Boardsmanship Awards must earn credit to receive this statewide honor. The 2016-2017 recipients from the Johnston Public School District were Board Members Jill Morrill and Grab Dockum.
Dockum serves as president of the Johnston Board of Education and Morrill serves as the vice president. Dockum was originally elected to the board in 2011; Morrill in 2002. Both leaders have received multiple Better Boardsmanship awards in previous years.
