Desserts are nearly always associated with good times: baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, you name it, there's something nice about being able to enjoy a baked good while celebrating.
Cupcake Addict in Johnston believes the formula for a good celebration of any kind is loved ones and cupcakes made from scratch.
"The company was created in 2011 and was a home-based bakery until 2016 when the storefront opened," Janet Hoch, founder of Cupcake Addict, told Johnston Times. "I created the company just as a cupcake craze started."
The company was an instant success, but it didn't come easily, Hoch explained.
"We are not a franchise and a lot of blood, sweat and learning lessons grew the company to what it is today," Hoch said.
Today, Cupcake Addict offers fresh cupcakes daily and a rotating menu each month for flavors. They also offer 15-20 cake ball flavors everyday and 13 flavors of raw edible cookie dough.
"Our specialty is our chocolate cake from a recipe that was a chocolate standby in an relic of a cookbook," Hoch said. "Over the years we have tweaked the recipe to make it our own to what it has become today."
Cupcake Addict certainly does love to bake delightfully sweet treats, but they also get a great deal of fulfillment from staying involved in the community.
"Children and children's organizations are where our leading donations are geared towards. We head into school classrooms to chat about our business, we donate to multiple charities throughout the year, and we get to know our customers within our community," Hoch said. "We learn about our customers' families, we create a safe environment at our storefront to get to know and engage with the community and customers."
While baking cupcakes may be the specialty at Cupcake Addict, they also love to offer their facility for events including cupcake or cake decorating parties.
"We also offer cake decorating classes so anyone from age 6 to 100 years of age can learn the art of cake decorating," Hoch said.
