Student attendance at Timber Ridge Elementary increased to 96.7 percent from 2015-16 to 2016-17, slightly better than the state average of 95.5 percent, according to a Johnston Times analysis of the latest Iowa schools report card.
The attendance measure records the number of days students were present at their school compared to the number of school days in the academic year.
Each year, Iowa public schools are evaluated based on several metrics, including proficiency, graduation rate, annual growth, college readiness, attendance and staff retention. The combined scores of each metric yield an overall ranking: exceptional, high-performing, commendable, acceptable, needs improvement and priority.
Timber Ridge Elementary was ranked "commendable" in 2017.
