After a four-year break, former Johnston Middle School associate principal Nate Zittergruen will be returning to the school district, this time in the role of associate principal for Johnston High School.
In a press release on the Johnston Community School District website, officials announced Zittergruen’s return.
“Zittergruen brings more than 15 years in coaching, teaching, and administrative experiences to Johnston,” the release stated. “His roles have encompassed business and marketing teacher, tech integration team member, athletic coach, assistant athletic director, and assistant/associate principal.”
He is replacing Johnston High’s current associate principal Jerry Stratton, who is replacing Kevin Blackburn, Summitt Middle School’s retiring associate principal.
Zittergruen, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Drake University, is pursuing a doctoral in education, expected to be completed later this year.
