Tanner Jay Potter, age 13, of Johnston, IA died suddenly on Saturday morning, July 6, 2019 at Blank Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Wednesday, July 10, and services will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 starting at 11am. Both will be held at Eternity Church located at 2000 NW 100th Street in Clive.
Tanner had a big heart that this world couldn’t hold onto forever. To know Tanner was to know his passion for life. He was kissed by fire as evidenced by his red hair. His favorite pastime was giving everyone a hard time, except Molly (his furry four-legged aunt). He cheered loudly for the Hawkeyes and Dallas Cowboys. When he wasn’t fiercely competing on Madden, he was watching DC and Marvel movies. Facetime brought out huge smiles on Tanner’s face, and he was relentless if you didn’t answer. As much as he would be a stinker, he would be even sweeter in a moment’s notice. Tanner just finished 7th grade at Summit Middle School in Johnston and was involved with youth group at Eternity Church.
Tanner is survived by his mom, Amy & her fiancé Jonny Linares; his brother, Cole; sister, Emma; Papa and Mimi, Charley & Tami Brindley; Jonny’s mom, Alma Rivera; great-grandparents, Dean & Donna Feight and John & Judy Carter; uncle Andy (Heather) Brindley; aunt Yaya, Angela (Mike) LaBelle & cousins Quin, Jameson, Charlotte, Dominic & Eleanore LaBelle; Jonny’s siblings, Katie Cartangena, Nathan Rivera; as well as too many friends and teachers to list.
As Tanner liked to quote from the movie End Game “I love you 3000”, we love you, Tanner, 3000.
